Interview (Part I)
Part of commissioning for the ship was being subject to a lot of tests, one being shock trials. Shock trials are when they would detonate a 10,000 pound bomb close to the ship to see how it would hold up. There would be a countdown and you would hear three beeps then an explosion would go off. It would shake the whole ship. There would be multiple bombs, one a time, gradually getting closer until it was right next to the ship!
Throughout Thomas’s Navy career, he has been to thirteen countries, sailed three oceans, and two seas.

He’s seen many cultures and learned many things that changed him into a better person.
His awards include good conduct awards, Engineering award, Navy achievement, several from Navy Expeditionary, Asia campaign, and South East Asia.
